I just returned from therapy with Younger Boy.  Therapist C is out of town so we didn't have the "talk" portion of therapy this morning.  It worked out well though since Therapist D had decided to continue processing the trauma we talked about last week.

It was FASCINATING to watch.  The EMDR is amazing.  Younger Boy started with his memory and the associated feelings and then we kept processing over and over.  During a portion of the time he was in a parasympathetic state or disassociated.  Watching him process through it and make new connections with the trauma.  Over the course of the hour he went from having strong feelings of anger and fear surrounding the situation to saying "I didn't deserve for that to happen and it wasn't my fault."  He was also was able to say he knows now it is safe to have a nightmare and get up during the night.

When it was over Therapist D shared with me that he might be hyper-sensitive for a couple of days while his brain processes the new connections.

I am fascinated by the science behind this.

Praises for the existence of this type of therapy for trauma cases and for the ability to be able to participate.
