Here's where we are in the process...with some corrections and new steps:
  1. Adoption home study interview - Mom
  2. Adoption home study interview - Middle Boy
  3. Adoption home study interview - family
  4. Fingerprints - Mom
  5. Adoption study paperwork - Foster Care Specialist - waiting for the results of my fingerprinting...which by the way has been done SEVEN TIMES in the last two years.
  6. Determine baseline monthly stipend - Service Coordinator/Mom - This will be done at our FTM in June.  I am going to have to figure out how this works.
  7. File stipend collateral paperwork - Service Coordinator
  8. State determine final subsidy payment and schedules subsidy negotiation with foster parent. - We have been in this step since June 6, 2012.  Both service coordinators have tried to get a status update in the last couple of weeks and their emails and calls have gone unanswered.
  9. Select adoption attorney - Mom - I can do this.  I just have to find the paperwork I got from CASA with the recommendations.
  10. Prepare adoption paperwork - Adoption Attorney
  11. File adoption paperwork at courthouse - Adoption Attorney - Ideally this would get done on June 21, 2012, the first available day it can happen. - This did not happen since the subsidy is not completed.  It will not happen until two weeks after subsidy negotiation is completed and signed and at this time there is no tentative date for the meeting.
  12. Wait 30 - 90 days - Everyone  Wait 4 to 8 weeks.  I was wrong about the days.
  13. Adoption hearing - Everyone - There will probably be two of these, because the boys have different judges and are on different court dockets.  The boys really want them to be on the same day, but I don't think we have much control over that.  Ideally they would at least be in the same week.
  14. Big party - Everyone - no details yet, still wondering what this should be.  Younger Boy will want a big party...Middle Boy will want to be a small family celebration, because he doesn't like the attention drawn to him.
Praises for a pretty quickly moving process....as far as governmental processes go.  We originally thought the adoption would take place between July 19 and August 16.  As of now the soonest the paperwork will be filed is July 19 and that is if the subsidy is signed today...so...that isn't going to happen.

Younger Boy has court for his permanency case on July 31, 2012.  We were hoping to have the adoption hearing scheduled when we went to court.  Now I will likely have to report that we waited for the subsidy negotiations.

Middle Boy has court for his permanency case on August 16, 2012.  We were hoping the adoption was completed by this date.  In fact the state assured Judge T it would be the case.  Not going to happen and he is not going to be happy.  I believe he told them not to come back in his courtroom if this adoption was held up by the state.

At this point I am not even talking to the boys about the possible dates for adoption, because I don't want the dates to come and go and have them be disappointed.

One positive note is this...National Adoption Day is November 17, 2012.  If it gets delayed that long we can be part of the big state celebration of adoption.  I originally thought it would be ridiculous to wait that long and we could be completely done before then.  Now I am not so sure it won't just happen by default.

Prayers for an expedited process.
