This morning for some reason we got on the topic of math while we were in the car on the way to therapy.  Middle Boy was bemoaning the fact that he never stayed in a school long enough to learn any math.  I don't doubt the truth in that.

I explained to him that I can help him.  He just needs to bring the work home.  I will put every effort in to bring both boys up to speed in math by the end of the summer.  Honestly both of them truly need to start at the beginning.  We are using a website that Younger Boy's math teacher recommended and we are starting at the first grade level.  We will be doing one hour of math five days per week from now until school starts again.  I told both boys I will commit to that, but if they quit, I quit.

I also explained to become a better student and learn isn't punishment.
