Grandpa is GOING HOME!! THIS FRIDAY!!
He is going to be cleared to do outpatient therapy at home three times per week for the next few weeks.
As part of his transitional therapy he has "lunch out" today with his therapy team. They are going to eat at Applebees. They take patients there every Wednesday. He is pretty nervous about it. Right now he isn't very confident in his skills, but his therapist said he is doing AMAZING.
Grandpa and Grandma are going to head home. They just want to get settled and get back to their "new normal".
He will have a follow-up surgery in early to late September to reverse the colostomy. He will be in the hospital for five to seven days then.
They are going to go and visit the ICU today to say good-bye and thank you to all of the nurses they worked with.
This has truly been a miracle!!

Ann...Grandpa is actually my dad. I am happy about this, too. It has been such a long road.
