Tonight we were at the home of Ms. R. I was reminded again how AMAZING she is.
She had a rough weekend last weekend. Her youngest foster son lit a bottle rocket in the bathroom with a lighter he had stolen from someone at school. No idea where the bottle rocket was from. There is damage to their bathroom, but the whole house didn't burn down. She is having trouble sleeping at night, because she is afraid of the poor choices he might make. The part that is frustrating for her is that he didn't do it to be malicious...he just didn't think about the consequences.
Her other foster son was fitted for an electronic monitor. Not for a criminal case, but because he is a recurring runaway. She said that is absolutely helping her with peace of mind, because they can locate him now instead of constantly calling the police.
I can empathize with this...never knowing what you might encounter...each day a complete adventure. I am also secretly glad it didn't happen at my house. It could have.
Now...don't think I have lost my mind. I am going to do respite for her in a couple of weeks just for the weekend. At respite kiddos are generally on the best behavior they can muster up so I don't anticipate issues....with my boys either, because they won't want to be in trouble when there are other kids there.
Prayers for Ms. R and her family. Prayers for our upcoming respite weekend. It will be an adventure!!
