Bedtime:  the time at which a person goes to bed

My Expectation:  at your bedtime (see definition above)  you are in your bed with the lights off

How it currently goes:

At bedtime (see definition above) said person "ignores" clock and claims we don't have enough clocks in the house.  This is after a 30, 15, 10, 5, and 2 minute warning...all of which are acknowledged.

Said person claims they didn't have an opportunity to eat snack.  Person needs to pack things for tomorrow.  Person needs to shower.  Person forgot to tell me something.  You name it.

Here is the new plan:

Bedtime will become the dictionary definition of bedtime.

60 Minutes Before Bedtime
  1. Bags will be packed for the morning.
  2. All outfits for the next day selected and put on top of dresser.
45 Minutes Before Bedtime
  1. Showers.
  2. Personal hygiene routine occurs.  We had to define this, too, but that is an entirely different story.
30 Minutes Before Bedtime
  1. Kitchen closes for night.  All dishes must be put away or in the dishwasher.
  2. The only snack allowed after this time is carrots.  (Thanks for the idea, J!!)
  3. Brush teeth.
  4. Sophie taken outside for last time.
15 Minutes Before Bedtime
  1. Bedtime Bible story.  Begins promptly whether you are in the room or not.
  2. Prayers.
Bedtime
  1. LIGHTS OUT
We will discuss this tomorrow night.  It is VASTLY different from our current routine and I am sure it will not be well received.  Unfortunately it will not be optional.

Prayers for bedtime as we are trying to get back in the school routine.
