Today was the day...Middle Boy's LAST family team meeting.  His last one after being in foster care since 2006 he is FINALLY done meeting monthly about his life.

It was a pretty informal meeting.

We discussed the foster care review hearing which is Thursday afternoon.  I typically go to all of these, but the only thing to talk about at this one is the adoption date of September 21.  I think Service Coordinator can handle it.

We talked about the delinquency hearing on August 21.  It stinks it is the second day of school.  Probation Officer, Tracker, and Service Coordinator have recommended removal of the electronic monitor and the tracking service.  None of them see a reason why it will continue.  He will continue on probation until he is finished with court-ordered therapy.  If I had to guess it will continue through the remainder of the school year.  I wish it wouldn't, but I suspect it will.

Probation Officer is disappointed she won't be able to go to the adoption hearing.  She has never had a kid in her charge be adopted before and in her words...she likes us.

We discussed the need to get a new social security number for Middle Boy following the adoption.  This is typically done, because biological parents have a tendency to continue to claim children who have been adopted on their taxes and it becomes a mess.  We will also get a new birth certificate as well as a copy of the original.

Everyone automatically becomes enrolled in after-care services.  You have the choice to opt out, but they recommend staying in for a year in case questions come up.

He is now registered for Branching Out...a life skills program.

While the journey has been a little bit rough at times Middle Boy's team has been good.  They have been helpful for the most part and I honestly feel like everyone cares.  Praises for a great team!!
