Earlier this summer I had talked to the high school pastor at church about Middle Boy.  He REALLY desires to be in a small group at church of kids who understand him and to have a leader he can really connect with.

Today they were assigning groups for the year.  High School Pastor and I emailed back and forth a number of times about what might be a good fit for Middle Boy.

His first suggestion is a great high school leader and godly man, but he is not the right leader for Middle Boy.  His approach is quite academic and this would be a disaster with Middle Boy.  His second thought was great, but the boys in the group are juniors.  Middle Boy is emotionally around eight so I think he would be out of his element with older boys.

Middle Boy craves making friends.  He struggles with it, because he is really insecure, but more than that he struggles because until now he hasn't bothered.  He never lived anywhere long enough to make friends.  He was going to be moving soon anyway so why put forth the effort.

I want him to succeed in his small group at church.  More than that I want him to thrive.

Prayers for the right man to meet Middle Boy where he is and for Middle Boy to be willing to open his heart to the group.
