This morning we went to the early service of church.  The service was a recap of all of the summer mission trips.

The boys were pretty attentive during the service.  During the discussion on RFKC and TRAC camp Younger Boy leaned over to me and said "even though I am still in foster care I still feel bad for other kids in foster care, too".  The kid has compassion and empathy...sometimes misdirected, but compassion and empathy just the same.

After the service the boys talked with friends...a lot of friends.  They had a great time.  There is a high school boy who has really taken Middle Boy under his wing and seeks him out at church and youth group.  No one asked this boy to do it, but he has, and I am grateful.

On the ride home we discussed each of the summer mission trips.  They are both really interested in going on the youth group mission trips next year.  Even more they REALLY want to go on the parent-child mission trip next year.  I hope there is one next year we can go on, because it would be good for our family.

Middle Boy surprised me when he said, "the thing that really got to me was the Dominican Republic.  I am really touched by them.  Maybe I should become a missionary there."  What I appreciate about this is that Middle Boy now looks at the possibilities.  When he first moved in he thought his life would NEVER be anything.  Now he considers everything a possibility.

Praises for a wonderful church with opportunities to serve and fellowship.
