Do I really not get it? Am I really insane as a parent?
Middle Boy wants to play freshman football next year so I spent my lunch hour today looking at the information for his high school football team. I researched the mandatory dates for freshman and all of the things on the high school football website. He has been talking about playing football for MONTHS now.
So...I found that there are two freshman football camps this summer at his high school that are highly recommended for incoming freshman. Today when he called me to tell me he was home from school I told him about them. He replied, "I'm not going. I already know how to play football."
One is a team camp. I told him he would be able to meet the other guys on the team. His reply, "I'll meet them when the season starts."
Am I being crazy? Are my expectations of him wanting to participate too high? If I wanted to play football and there were camps available where I could learn the system and meet the other players I would be there in a minute. Him...not so much.
I'm considering making him go. I'm mean like that. I think it would be good for him in so many ways.
Am I unrealistic? I don't want to be "that parent"!
